My Body – Pregnancy Week 38

Brought to you by
Pregnancy Week 38

How are you feeling? Have you noticed any electrical tingles in your legs and inside of your vagina? These tingles are caused by your baby hitting nerves as she settles down into your pelvic area. Have you noticed any sharp, shooting pains? The baby is probably resting on your sciatic nerve. The best thing to do is try to get some rest and put your feet up!

You may also have been experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions for weeks now, but how do you know when it's time to call your healthcare provider? If there is a change in the frequency of contractions, it's probably a good idea to call. You might also notice some brown, pink, or red discharge signaling the fact that you have lost your mucus plug, and your water may also break. These are all signs that labor is starting and it's a good idea to let your partner, and your healthcare provider, know that it's time!

38 weeks now with my first baby girl she finally turned to birthing position this week which now made things so much more uncomfortable I’ve been feeling a lot of pressure and sharp pains I just can’t wait to get her out 🙂

  4. Tamika says:

I haven’t experienced any pain but I have been having Braxton hicks contractions without pain does that mean he will come after my due date this is my first pregnancy

  5. Nancy says:

On my 38 week I can’t find a comfortable way to sleep. I always have back pain and if I use my big pregnancy pillow I end up waking up with a sore neck. My crotch hurts when I walk, sit or try to get up to go to the bathroom, I’m guessing that every mommy goes through the same problems at this point in pregnancy and there’s nothing we can do about it :\ Anyhow I just hope that my baby girl arrives earlier than the 40th week but if not I’m gonna be just happy that she’s just a healthy baby 🙂

Hii my name is konnie and im 19 going to be a first time mom and im scared i dont know how labor is going to be but ive been feeling those sharp pains in my vaginal area and thry hurt really really bad … ive been having a horrible pregnancy and i can barely sleep on my sides i just wish my son could be ready to come out .. i just have two more weeks 🙂

    • Hi Konnie. I am so very sorry that you have had a horrible pregnancy. I too have had a uncomfortable pregnancy, one with the kind of pains you are experiencing — not fun, but it happens. Sometimes it hurt so bad that I would literally pee my pants, and I’d have to walk like a 200-year-old lady. My doctor monitored me very closely, not just because of the pain, but from other concerning issues. So, please tell your doctor about your pains if you haven’t already, okay; just to make sure that you and your baby are alright. Two more weeks, you can do this, and you’re going to do great!

At this point in my pregnancy I am so uncomfy. Back always hurt, cant breathe the way I need, cant sleep the way I need, appetite changed. my stomach always hurt, having weird odors, then when I do get sleep I am exhausted.

I jus would like to know…? Where’s the damn glow?? Lol i jus feel like a bigg wide ball of poop! Sigh..tis no glow! Cmon babyboy momma’s uncomfortable now

  10. Megan says:

I just started having those pains at the top of my vaginal area yesterday. They are sharp and sometimes last quite awhile. Very painful and annoying!! Glad I just have 2 weeks left!!

  11. Christina says:

    THE shooting pain is horrible

  12. Melissa says:

It’s just your mucus plug, they’re not all bloody or yellow or green. Mine were all yellow/clear with all 5 of my babies. They have the consistancy of snot, yuck I know, but that’s how you know if it is indeed your mucus plug.

  13. Grace says:

i read somewhere on here thats that is just our bodies preparing to have the baby…

  14. sarah bannen says:

i wish i knew the answer to this to but i think it is just becuase you are getting ready to go in labor

  15. ashley says:

what if theres a good amount of yellow stuff in my underwear instead of brown, pink or red? and are all mucus plugs a yellowish/ greenish?
